Bethel United Methodist Church is located in the heart of Mound, MN at the corner of Commerce Blvd and Church Street. 2116 Commerce Avenue. You can click on the map below for directions.
PARKING & ENTRANCES
We have two entrances. The front door (facing Church Street) has a driveway. If you need the shortest distance in, or to use the ADA ramp, you can park on this driveway on the side closest to the church.
Downstairs door - Our main parking lot is on the lower lever, between the front door and the Grow Garden. Choose any space you like and come in at the corner of the building. There's an elevator to the main floor, or you can take the stairs just to the left of the entrance.
WHAT TO WEAR
Please wear clothes that are comfortable for you. There is no dress code. Most people wear khakis, shorts, or dresses in the summertime. (The sanctuary is not air conditioned.) In winter, sweaters and jeans are great. Few people wear ties and jackets, but you're welcome to if that's what you like.
NAME TAGS
We try to remember to wear name tags, so we can greet one another. We'd be glad to make one for you! Just ask a greeter near the main door, and someone will set you up.
WHAT'S THE SERVICE LIKE?
Our worship service has a basic format shared by many churches. It is about one hour long.
1) We Gather - welcome, call to worship, greeting one another, an opening song, short announcements
2) We Hear the Word - scripture readings, more singing, a message/sermon about 20 minutes long
3) We Respond - people share joys and concerns if they wish, we all pray together, offering, singing.
We celebrate Communion/The Lord's Supper on the first Sunday of the month.
4) We're Sent to Love & Serve - closing prayer, song, and a blessing.
Then everyone gathers in the lobby for treats, coffee, and conversation.
WHAT'S THE MUSIC LIKE?
We're so lucky to have an outstanding Worship Director! Ashley Whetstone leads the congregation in a mix of traditional hymns with updated settings, contemporary worship songs, and original music. She usually plays the piano or guitar and leads the singing. We have a Bell Choir that plays several times a year (it's open to new members!) On some Sundays, we have guest musicians join us on the organ, or with a small band.
CHILDREN
We'd love to meet your kids! We offer activity bags, and are delighted to have children in worship - with all their wiggles and all their noises. We do not currently have a children's program or child care.
